The Great Introduction to the Lamb of God

In John 1:29-36 God’s invitation for us to “Behold! Jesus the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world.” is powerfully spoken.  Through this proclamation John the Baptists invites his own disciples to go and follow Jesus.  As the two men approach Jesus, He stops to ask, “What do you want?”  They respond, “Rabbi, where are you staying?”  In other words, Jesus, where can you be found?
Jesus invites them saying, “come and you will see.” (John 1:39-42)  Through this encounter we see the coming together of host and guest, of Jesus the ultimate patron and the disciples the lowliest guests.  This profound encounter stirs up hope and passion in the hearts of the disciples who go out and tell others they have found the Christ.
In their conversations Andrew invites Peter; Jesus invites Philip; Philip invites Nathanael, and Nathanael finds Jesus.  All of them are changed forever by their encounter with Jesus.  Have you encountered Jesus in this profound way?  Do you know Jesus is the One who takes away the sins of the world?  We invite you to listen, to pray, and to respond to the working of the Holy Spirit in your life as you “Come and Behold the Lamb of God!”
