We Are One In Christ
We are focusing today on how our Lord Jesus Christ forms us into one community for the sake of his mission in our world.
Luke 1:68-79 is “Zechariah’s Song” and it celebrates that God keeps his promises. For us, we celebrate that Jesus our Messiah paid for our sins (redemption in verse 68) and equips us with his own righteousness! Only in this way can we serve God without fear and in holiness and in righteousness.
Paul gave one of his strongest rebukes to Christians who think their good works add to the righteousness of Jesus in Galatians 3:1-6.
Galatians 3:27-29 gives us one of the most important principles of Christian theology: All who have been baptized into Christ are clothed with Christ’s own worthiness and righteousness.
Christians are saved to do Good Works! This is obvious in Galatians 5:13-14: We are called to serve one another in love. We do this corporately as a community, and we do this individually as members of the community.
Back to God’s Story: God has prepared the good works we are called to do. Our joy as Christians is to find our place, fulfill our call, and celebrate all that God does through the one body of his Messiah.
