Day 31 - Expanding the Cast of Players (Spiritual Beings/Elohim)
Step 1 - Here we are, deep in the Old Testament, and we need to read some New Testament passages to help focus our attention in the Old Testament. Read Ephesians 1:18-22, especially verse 21; and Ephesians 3:7-12, especially verse 10. Ask, “Who or what is the Apostle Paul talking about?
Step 2 - Read Genesis 3:1-15, watch the video and ask, “Who are the rebellious spiritual beings in this text?”
Step 3 -Read Colossians 1:15-20, especially verses 15-16, watch the video, and ask, “Why did God create these spiritual beings?
Step 4 - Pray the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) and ask: What does it mean for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you continue to walk with God..
Day 32 - Expanding the Cast of Players (Divine Council)
Step 1 - Read Psalm 89:5-8 and ask, “What can we know about God’s heavenly council?”
Step 2 -Read chapter 1 of Job, watch the video, and ask, “Why did God allow His enemy to enter into his council?
Step 3 - Read chapter 2 of Job, watch the video, and again ask, “Why did God allow His enemy to enter into his council?
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask: “What does it mean for God to deliver us from evil?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you love God as your Abba (Father).
Day 33 - Expanding the Cast of Players (Angels and Cherubim)
Step 1 - Read Psalm 99 and ask, What does “enthroned between the cherubim” mean?
Step 2 - Read Leviticus 25:17-22 and ask again, What does it mean for us today that God is “enthroned between the cherubim”?
Step 3 - Read Hebrews 1:14, watch this next video, and ask, “What is the work of an angel?” and “What is the work of the angel of the Lord?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask: “What does it mean for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you continue to walk with God.
Day 34 - Expanding the Cast of Players (Satan and Demons)
Step 1 - Read Genesis 3:1-7 and ask, “Who is the serpent? And how does he tempt the first couple?”
Step 2 -Read Ezekiel 28:12-15, Isaiah 14:12-15; II Corinthians 11:12-15, and Ephesians 2:1-2; Watch the video, and wonder, “Who are these texts speaking about?”
Step 3 - Read Daniel 10 and Ephesians 6:10-13, re-watch the video, and ask, “Why can’t we recognize the spiritual beings behind human worldly powers and events?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask: “What does it mean for God to deliver us from evil?”
Step 5 -Take one small step in obedience as you love God as your Abba (Father).
Day 35 - Expanding the Cast of Players (The New Humanity)
Step 1 - Read Genesis 1:26-28 and 2:15 and ask, “What were humans created to do?”
Step 2 - Read Psalm 8 and John 13:2-5, 12-17 and ask, “How does Jesus model the rule of the new humanity?”
Step 3 - Read Hebrews 2:5-8, watch the video, and ask again, “How does Jesus model the rule of the new humanity?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask: “What does it mean for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you continue to walk with God.
Day 36 - Drawing things together (Summary for days 31-35)
Step 1 - Read Ephesians 1:18-22 and Ephesians 3:7-12 and ask, “How does our bold approach to God show anything to rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms?”
Step 2 -Read Isaiah 48:12-17, watch the video, and ask, “Who is speaking in each verse?”
Step 3 - Watch the video, and ask, “How Does God’s holiness help us become the new humanity?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask, “Lord, how can I better hallow (honor) your name?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you love God as your Abba (Father).
Day 37 - An Introduction to Israel’s Prophets
Step 1 - Read Jeremiah 2:1-7, 13. (Beware, the rest of the chapter is not G-rated!) What kind of partnership does God want with his covenant people?
Step 2 - Watch the video, and ask, “What characteristics of prophetic speech does Jeremiah 4:22-26 illustrate?”
Step 3 - Watch the video, and ask, “What characteristics of prophetic speech does Isaiah 34:1-8 illustrate?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask: “What does it mean for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you continue to walk with God.
Day 38 - Understanding Isaiah
Step 1 - Read Isaiah 6. What kind of ministry was Isaiah commissioned for?
Step 2 - Read Isaiah 11:1-9, watch the first video on Isaiah and ask, “What could Israel have done as they heard these words of judgment and hope?”
Step 3 - Read Isaiah 40:1-11, watch the second video on Isaiah and ask, “What could Israel have done as they heard these words of judgment and hope?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask, “Lord, how can I better hallow (honor) your name?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you love God as your Abba (Father).
Day 39 - Understanding Jeremiah and Lamentations
Step 1 - Read Jeremiah 3:6-18 and ask, “Which of these details do you find most shocking?”
Step 2 - Read Jeremiah 31:27-34, watch the video, and ask, “What are the most astounding claims
about the new covenant?”
Step 3 - Read Lamentations 3:1-3, 19-24, watch the video, and ask, “How can we find hope in the midst of great suffering?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask: “What does it mean for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you continue to walk with God.
Day 40 - Understanding Ezekiel
Step 1 - Read Ezekiel 2:1-3:4 and ask, “How would I feel if I received this mission?” and “Why?”
Step 2 - Read Ezekiel 11:14-21, watch the first video on Ezekiel, and ask, “What promises are made to the remnant that will return?”
Step 3 - Read Ezekiel 36-37:14, watch the second video on Ezekiel, and ask again, “What promises are made to the remnant that will return?” and “How does Ezekiel 37:24-28 tie things together?”
Step 4 - Pray the Lord’s Prayer and ask, “Lord, how can I better hallow (honor) your name?”
Step 5 - Take one small step in obedience as you love God as your Abba (Father).
