Ministry Leaders

Jolyn Dickerson

Children's Minister

My darling husband, Dennis, and I have been members of Good Shepherd for over 25 years. We have six remarkable, talented children (yours, mine, and ours) five of which are grown and 15 grandkids. We have one son at home who is a senior in high school. When I’m not working I like to relax with a “Words with Friends” game, playing a round of golf, or just hanging out with the family.

My role as Children’s Minister is to care for families with little ones from birth through fifth grade. I work with the Family Ministry team (“Ffej” Jeff Stephenson and Pastor Susan Westland) to provide the tools and resources to equip parents to train up their children to be Christ-centered disciples. While Sunday morning programming is an important part of what we do, our goal is to help parents take the primary responsibility of the faith development of their children. We are here to pray for and support families.

Barb Nelson

Music and Worship Minister

My wonderful husband, Jim Nelson, and I have been married since 1988. I am the Director of Music and Worship at Good Shepherd. I am responsible for the music, drama, dance, audio visual, and anything else that needs overseeing for the Sunday morning services, all special seasonal services, weddings and funerals. I direct the Adult Choir and the Orchestra and supervise the Worship Teams for the different services. I work with the youth to help train worship leaders. I design and organize much of the worship at Good Shepherd. My greatest joy is worshiping our Lord Jesus and helping others to worship Him as well. I’m grateful to God and the leadership of Good Shepherd for allowing me to be a minister of worship here.

Jeff Stephenson

Youth Minister

I have served in youth ministry at Good Shepherd since 1997. I was raised in the Salt Lake area and am married to Brittany and we have four amazing children ranging from high school to college.  I am extremely excited about the move to Family Ministry at Good Shepherd and I count it a privilege to work with Jolyn.  My primary responsibilities at Good Shepherd are to provide Christian education and development for junior and senior high students in the context of Family Ministry, which includes teaching classes, leading Bible studies, planning retreats and missions, and developing student leaders.  I am also responsible for all the social media, graphic design, video production, and website content for Good Shepherd.  My greatest joy in ministry is seeing a student come into a relationship with Jesus Christ and to see that relationship with Christ effect change in every area of their life!
